Christmas Dispatch Cut Off Dates

It's that time of year again! Here are the last recommended posting dates according to the Royal Mail for deliveries to arrive before Christmas, this is a direct screengrab from their website so that I can't accidentally put the wrong dates. Please remember that these are guidelines and not guarantees (except for Special Deliveries). Standard free shipping on Rigu orders is 2nd class postage. Please note that unlike previous years I am NOT able to do a Saturday dispatch as I am photographing a wedding all day (yes, busiest time of the year for Rigu mixed with a wedding, some would say I'm a glutton for punishment), this means that for Rigu effectively the last date for free shipping is orders dispatched on Friday 18th.

Free postage available on all UK orders

Rigu offers free shipping for all UK mainland orders, no matter what size of order. The free shipping option is a Royal Mail 2nd class service, but if you want your order quicker you can opt to upgrade to Royal Mail 1st class postage for a flat fee of £1.50. Additional postage options are always being considered to ensure that customers can get their orders when they want them, please feel free to get in contact if you need another option. Similarly, if you wish for a note to be placed on your package telling the delivery driver to leave your order with a neighbour or in a specified location (if you are not at home and the package won't fit in your letterbox) please leave a note in the comments when making your order so the note can be stuck to your package. Rigu cannot control whether the driver actually follows the note or not, but we'll always try our best.

European & international shipping costs more than sending a package around the UK, unfortunately that means Rigu can't offer free shipping for European and international customers. You will be charged the same (or in many cases less) than Rigu is charged at the Post Office, using a weight based system. I feel that this is the fairest system to international customers. European items should arrive within 7 working days and International items within 10 working days, but this is not guaranteed so if your item is delayed please do be patient and remember that I want you to receive your package as much as you do. In my experience Spain and Italy tend to have the most delays and lost packages in Europe, so please be aware that there may be a delay to your package that is outside my control. There is no tracking on European and International orders, if you require tracking or a faster service please contact me and we can arrange for a surcharge payment to cover the additional cost.

We can ship an order to anywhere that the Royal Mail will send a package, thankfully this covers just about the entire globe. If you happen to be one of those rare people that the Royal Mail don't cover, please do contact us and we will try our best to find a solution for you.

Dispatch times

Rigu tries to achieve same day dispatch on all orders placed before 3:30pm Monday-Friday (Rigu is available for customer services enquiries all week, but cannot dispatch orders on the weekend. If you see the sign at the top of the page saying "same day dispatch before 3:30pm" that means that I am in the office and your order will get dispatched that day. If that sign isn't there, I still might get it dispatched on the same day, but it's not certain, and you should expect the package to be dispatch the next day, or on rare occasions the day after that.

Sometimes larger items going to European and International address are too large to be dispatched by Royal Mail (who have a size limit that covers all but the largest of DSLR bags on sale in the shop), in these cases a courier is required and same-day dispatch is not possible (though the courier will almost always be booked on the same day). The courier is usually a quicker service than Royal Mail Airmal (also known as 'International Standard'), so the package being dispatched a day later is usually not an issue.

* You're probably wondering why there is a nice photo of the milky way rising above the Langdale Pikes in the Lake District (taken by Mr. Rigu). Well, I thought that as a subject delivery information is pretty dry, you need it, it's good to know, but it is just a wall of text and we're all photographers here, we need something interesting to look at!

Rigu is an independently run camera accessories site based in the Lake District and run by Andy, an avid photographer that couldn't find a nice strap for his camera in 2011, so he started a business selling them. Andy scours the globe trying to find cool and interesting products to bring to the UK to share with British photographers. Please note that being in the Lake District means I am often without phone signal and so it is usually quickest to send an e-mail if you have a question.
