Sold Individually - HoldFast MoneyMaker Compatible

This affordable tripod mount screw provides an alternative way to connect a HoldFast MoneyMaker harness to the tripod mount on the bottom of your camera.

It uses the standard 1/4-inch tripod thread found on the vast majority of DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

It features a patented anti-slip mechanism, which allows the head of the screw to spin freely after installation. This helps to prevent the screw from gradually loosening during use.

The screw is made from stainless steel and includes a POM contact pad between the metal fitting and your camera to reduce wear on the area around the tripod mount . The hinged loop folds relatively flat against the bottom of the camera when not in use.

As ever when using a product like this, even with it having an effective anti-slip system it's important to periodically check on the connection, and I always recommend using the safety lanyards for redundancy when using a HoldFast MoneyMaker harness.

Installation & Removal

  1. Screw into the tripod mount on the base of your camera as normal.
  2. When it is screwed in and the metal head is beginning to spin freely, push your thumb down on the screw head and and slowly turn the head until you feel it drop into a notch within the screwhead base.
  3. Turn a little bit more with additional force whilst still pushing down to tighten up the fitting. This is only a small fraction of a turn, do not force it too much.
  4. Remove your thumb and allow the screw head to pop back up, and then check that the head is able to freely spin again.
  5. For removal, do this process in reverse.

Notes

I can understand why some people might describe this as a “locking tripod mount screw”, but I’ve deliberately chosen to call it anti-slip instead.

To unscrew it, you need to press the head into the correct position before turning it. That makes it considerably harder to loosen accidentally than any other tripod mount clip I’ve used.

It has never come undone during my testing, and I’m struggling to think of a realistic situation where it would. Even so, it doesn’t have a separate secondary lock, so I don’t think it would be quite right to describe it as fully locking.

When a product is being trusted to carry a camera, I would rather be slightly cautious with the wording than promise more than the design can guarantee.
