Convert your flat mount camera strap into a quick release using these handy adapters. If you don't always use a camera strap and want to save time swapping over these are an easy way to quickly remove your strap; whether it's for more efficient storage in your camera bag, or you just don't want the strap flapping around against the tripod during a long exposure.

In terms of fitment, you aren't going to be able to fit these onto a lug mount, the string is just too thick. If you wish to use these with a lug mount, the best work around is to use a pair of split rings and then loop the quick releases onto that. As the gap in the buckle is 1.1cm wide, it is compatible with flat mount straps with a connection loop up to 1cm wide (you don't want it to be tight or it will move awkwardly). This covers all of Cam-in's flat mount strap range, and the vast majority of straps from other manufacturers.

These adapters will add a bit of length to your strap setup so you'll need to account for that with the flat mount connection by shortening it down. The length when they're sat naturally is about 10cm, but when weight is applied the woven string loop with lengthen a bit up to around 11cm.

It does take a bit of force to squeeze the buckle to open it up and remove the strap from the camera body. You can do it with one hand, but importantly I think it needs enough force that you aren't going to do it by mistake when handling your camera.

Genuine leather is used in the construction of these adapters, so they are not a vegan-friendly product.

* I tested them to 10kg. They did not break at this point, I just stopped testing as it's very rare for a camera setup to be over 10kg. If you're going above that weight, chances are you wouldn't be using a neck strap anyway, but I'd recommend not adding anything between the strap and the camera just for extra security and peace of mind.
