This radiant filter has colourful "confetti" randomly distributed across it's surface which create interesting and unusual flares in your photos.

  • Available with a 77mm filter thread.
  • Get a step up ring if you have a different sized filter thread on your lens.
  • Take the filter off the lens and go handheld with a 77mm filter adapter.
  • Make the filter magnetic using our handy adapters. Great for hot swapping between filters.
  • Rotatable when fitted. This allows you to turn the effect during a video, allowing different coloured strands on the filters to interact with the light entering the lens. I recommend rotating anti-clockwise (in the same direction as tigthening the screw thread) to ensure the filter remains firmly attached to the lens at all times.

This flare filter falls into the category of what I would call "niche usage." It's not always going to be attached to your lens, and it's definitely not going to be appropriate for every situation, but it is really fun to experiment with, and can also provide your customers with really unusual photos that can be really special.

As you can see from the sample images, the filter works best when you're looking at hard or specular points of light, and also when there's a strong contrast between the light source and the general background (which is why it's great at night). If you were to try and use this filter during the daytime outside and without spots of light in your image you usually aren't going to get any of the effect.

The filter also behaves differently depending on the aperture of your lens. At wide apertures like f/1.8 you're going to get long diffused sparks of colourful light coming off your light source like a firework burst; however at smaller apertures like f/8 you'll get pill-like strands of light that are much more defined and in some cases might not even be "connected" to the light source.
