Warp - Spektrem Effects

This filter makes 2 copies of your subject and adds motion blur ot the middle of the image. This effect is unlike anything you have ever tried before.

This is a really interesting filter; usually, we're putting our subject in the middle of the frame and blurring around the edges (like with the Stretch filter), but in this case that's flipped and the blur is what you'll be looking at the most. It forces you into finding creative compositions and looking at your subject in a different way.

As you'd imagine, a filter that adds blur to the middle of your shot might confuse your AF system. You can either set a single fixed AF point and work around that, or just use manual focus whilst you're using the filter.

For this style of effect I think it should work pretty similarly even when on a smaller lens as the effect crosses the whole front, but you should be aware that if you were using the 55mm version on a 49mm or smaller lens, that the blurred section in the middle of your lens is likely to take up a larger portion of your image simply because it is covering a larger part of the lens.
