Blue Streak Lens Flare Filter

This blue streak filter is really effective at adding a totally different mood or vibe to all kinds of photos. As you can see from the samples the effect works best when you have a strong, solid light source such as a street light or other bright spot of light. The effect does work on most kind of light but spots and bare bulbs look to give you the strongest flare. If you have no light source then you will get little to no effect from this filter.

I walked around town testing out the filter and you can see the results in the sample photos. I have run these through some VSCO filters, so there is some artistic license taken with the colours, but the level of flare hasn't been adjusted at all.

The filter will tend to give a slightly colder flare that the lighting that it's pointed at; so a cold, bright LED will give a blue flare, but a warmer streetlight will remain a warm flare, and the same for other colours (a red traffic light still produces a red flare, for example).

• Take the filter off the lens and go handheld with a 77mm filter adapter.

• Rotatable when fitted. This allows you to turn the effect during a video, or change the direction of the flare in a still photo. I recommend rotating anti-clockwise (in the same direction as tigthening the screw thread) to ensure the filter remains firmly attached to the lens at all times.
